Whitetail Ski Resort Review

Whitetail Ski Resort, in Pennsylvania, is located on Two Top Mountain in the Tuscarora Mountains. It is 92 miles from Baltimore, Maryland and 89 miles from Washington, D.C.. At the slopes you will find 21 trails with ten lifts. The lifts are 1 surface, 5 chair lifts with 3 fixed quads and 1 detachable quad. The Whitetail Ski Area has a 935 foot vertical drop. The runs are divided into 20% easy, 65% medium and 15% hard. The skiing covers 109 acres and has 100% snow making capability. Two terrain parks are available for board enthusiasts.

For some great family fun try the snow tubing at Whitetail. There are ten groomed lanes just waiting to be enjoyed. The lanes are all different so be sure to try every one of them. If you have someone with you that you don't mind being close to get the double tube and ride together. The main tubing area is for ages 5 and up but the little ones aren't left out of the fun. There is a tiny tubing area just for them.

Whitetail is one of the newest ski resorts in America, just twenty years old, and they are continually growing and improving. This last year they have invested nearly 2 million dollars into improvements. These include new snowmaking improvements, a beginner terrain park, a new adult magic carpet lift and a new half pipe.

Whitetail is a year round resort offering some of the best championship golf around. Fly fishermen might want to spend time with the local pro, Dusty Wissmath, and learn the finer points of the sport. For kids 8-12 there is the Whitetail Resort Adventure Camp form June 21-25 and July 12-16.

Lodging near Whitetail Ski Resort is plentiful. The Inns of Whitetail are 17 luxurious condos and 18 townhomes. Mercersburg Inn is just minutes from the slopes with 17 luxury rooms available. Fox's Jus-em-tyme Bed and Breakfast is located in a small village called Welsh Run, just minutes from the resort. Sleep Inn and Suites is the closest hotel to Whitetail Ski Resort and has a ski lounge with fireplace as well as a heated pool and spa. Another close by location is the Springhill Suites by Marriott in Hagerstown. Other choices would be the Hampton Inn Hagerstown, the Homewood Suites by Hilton and the Holiday Inn Express, all in Hagerstown.

Food at Whitetail Ski Resort can be found at the Marketplace or the Windows Restaurant. There is a Starbucks located in the Windows Restaurant. Here you will also find fun slope side dining with a good selection of burgers and other sandwiches. The Marketplace is a deli bar with pizza, burgers and the famous Whitetail Chili.
