Bousquet Ski Resort Review

Bousquet Ski Resort is located on the northern summit of Yokun Ridge in Pittsfield Massachusetts. It is in the Berkshire cultural region. Bousquet is the oldest ski area in the Berkshires, developed in 1932. It is also said they were the first to have night skiing. This relativley small ski mountain is only an hour from Albany New York. It's three hours from New York City and Boston MA.

On the slopes you will find 24 runs covering 200 acres. It has a 750 foot vertical drop, capacity to make snow and a terrain park. The uphill rides are taken care of by five lifts, 2 chair lifts and 3 surface lifts. Snowmakers are in place covering most of the slopes to keep them up and running.

The skill level of the runs is a pretty even mix with 35% beginner, 30% intermediate and 35% advanced. Advanced skiers should try the summit and ski the sleep pitches found at the top of the double chair lift. The blue runs on Main Street and Russell slopes will be favorites for intermediate skiers.

Bousquet Ski Area also has tubing which is fun for the whole family. They have 4-5 chutes and a magic carpet for getting to the top. It's fifteen dollars for a 2 hour ticket.

If you need lessons you will be in the hands of Cindy Bartlett, Bousquet's Snowsports School director. Her professional team is available for group lessons, private lessons, a first timers package and an all mountain package. Children's programs are offered for age groups 4-8, 8-12 and 8-12 snowboarders. Adults can enjoy programs like Improve Your Race Times, Performance Skiing and Adult Snowboard Evening Classes.

Here are a few quotes from people who have skied here before. "The powder was clear up to my thighs and I was able to ski untracked runs clear up until 2 PM. What a Mountain." "The grooming was perfect and the back bowls have several feet of deep powder skiing." "The powder was actually better than what we get in Vail." "Best deep Powder skiing east of the Rockies."

Bousquet is a year round resort with summer activities promising lots of fun. Get away for the day with the kids and enjoy the castle bounce, bungy trampoline, climbing wall, devalkarts, chairlift ride, mini golf, waterslides and pool go karts.

There is no overnight lodging at Bousquet Ski Resort but nearby Pittsfield has a nice selection of places to stay. The small price tag for skiing at this resort keeps the locals coming back, and most are just out for a day of skiing.

The official address for Bousquet Ski Resort is 101 Dan Fox Drive, Pittsfield MA, 01201. Their phone number is 413-442-8316.
