Steamboat Ski Resort is located in northwestern Colorado on Mount Werner, in the Routt National Forest. The resort is spread over a complete mountain range with six peaks, Christie Peak, Thunderbird Peak, Mount Werner, Sunshine Peak, Pioneer Ridge and Storm Peak.
Steamboat has 165 runs with 14% for beginners, 42% for intermediates and 44% are advanced. They cover 2965 acres. The longest run, "Why Not", is 3 miles. The slopes are accessed by 23 lifts, they are 1 gondola, 1 high speed six passenger chair, 5 high speed quad chairs, 1 quad chair, 6 triple chairs, 3 double chairs and 6 surface. The yearly snowfall is 334 inches and the vertical rise is 3,668 feet.
Some of the most popular skiing at Steamboat are the areas of Pioneer Ridge, Storm Peak and Sunshine. The glades are home to some of the best powder in Colorado.
Steamboat has 3 terrain parks plus the Mavericks Superpipe, one of the premier pipes in North America. It has a 22 foot transition, is 56 feet wide and 450 feet long and has 18 foot walls. Mavericks Terrain Park has the largest features on the mountain. It has a mini superpipe, sliders, rails, s mailboxes, jumps, log jibs and more. Lil' Rodeo Terrain Park is the beginner park close to the base lodge. Rabbit Ears Terrain Park is for intermediate boarders with jibs, boxes, jumps and rails.

The Kids Vacation Center Child Care Program is the place to leave your kids, 6 months through kindergarten, where the will be taken care of by an experienced staff. For a fun New Years Eve without kids they offer a special evening program for kids ages 5-12.
Steamboat Ski Resort has over a hundred bars and restaurants to choose from, but none better than what you will find at the top of Steamboat Mountain. Take the Steamboat Gondola up and visit Hazie's for an elegant dining experience you will never forget. Or, also at the top, let Ragnar's take you on a sleigh ride dinner, underneath starry skies you will be served a five course dinner. A little more casual is the gourmet lunch served while on the Guided Gourmet Snowshoe hike. The Western BBQ is also located at the mountain top. Another notable on mountain dining location is the Four Point Hut atop Storm Peak. Stop in here to warm up with chili, soup or hot dogs.

Shopping at Steamboat is plentiful with all of your needs being taken care of. Especially your ski related needs. You will find the best skis, boards and apparel at Steamboat Ski and Sports, Steamboat RideSports, Steamboat Signature Collection, Storm Mountain Outfitters, New Stix or KVC Merchatile. KVC is a ski-in ski-out location next to the Kid's Vacation Center. They have a complete selection of everything the little ones need for the slopes.

Some of the other winter activities at Steamboat are horseback riding, snowmobile rides, spa services and the hot springs. This is also a summer resort offering gondola rides, a pro rodeo, horseback riding, the Coca Cola Adventure Zone, fishing, golf, rock climbing, hot air balloon tours, ride-n-slide and water sports including rafting.
Steamboat Springs is owned by Intrawest. They are a Canadian Resort management company owning ten other ski resorts. The resort opens in late November and closes by mid April.
