Loveland Ski Resort Review

Loveland Ski Resort is one of the closest ski resorts to Denver. It is located in Georgetown, Colorado in the Arapahoe National Forest. Loveland combines Loveland Basin ski area and Loveland Valley ski area connecting them by a double chairlift and by bus. It is east of the Eisenhower Tunnel where I-70 crosses the Continental Divide.

From Silverthorne, Loveland is 12 miles away, from Silver Plume it's 10 miles. Georgetown, Idaho Springs and Evergreen are all within 30 miles and Denver is 53 miles away.

Loveland Ski Resort is one of Colorado's highest ski areas reaching 13,010 feet. It is also the second highest lift served ski area in North America. The vertical drop at the Basin slope is 2,210 feet and the Valley slope drops 850 feet.

There are 93 runs at Loveland with the longest one being 2 miles. The runs are serviced by 10 lifts, 3 quad chairs, 2 triple chairs, 3 double chairs and 2 surface. Their total capacity is 14,293 skiers per hour. The total skiable area is 1,570 acres. For Snowboarders of all skill levels their is the Love Park.

The runs are divided into 13% beginner, 41% intermediate and 46% advanced/expert with plenty of gentle slopes, deep bowls, steeps and bumps. The Valley area is home to the beginner and intermediate skiers and the location of the Ski and Ride School. The lodge at the Valley consists of a cafeteria, rental shop, ticket office, bar and a retail shop.

More dining choices exist at the Basin lodge with the Loveland Deli, Basin Cafeteria, Wedge Bar and The Rathskeller. The Basin Rental Shop is next to the Sports Shop and Lodge where they feature brands like K2, Icelantic, Nordica and Volki. The Sports Shop sells clothing, accessories and equipment and most anything else you may have left behind.

These clinics are offered on select dates throughout the season, so plan ahead if you want in on one of them.
