Liberty Ski Resort, otherwise known as Liberty Mountain Resort and Conference Center, is located in southern Pennsylvania. It is just an hours drive from either Baltimore or Washington D.C., making it the nearest ski location to both cities. It is also a short drive from both York, PA and Hagerstown MD.
Once on the slopes at Liberty you will find about 91 ski acres that are serviced by 8 lifts, four quads, 1 double, 2 magic carpets and a terrain park j-bar.
The longest run at Liberty is about 1 mile and the overall breakdown is 35% beginner, 40% intermediate and 25% advanced. The vertical drop is 600 feet. There are a total of 16 trails and they are open for night skiing seven days a week. The 100% snowmaking ability helps the resort to stay open from December to mid March.
For easy beginner skiing stick to these trails: Snow Cat Alley, First Class Area, Nova, Sneaky Pete, Dipsy Doodle and Lower Blue Streak. For the slightly more challenging trails try: Lower Strata, Lower Heavenly, Whitney's Way, Upper Heavenly, Lower Eastwind and Lower Ultra. The most difficult trails at Liberty are: Vertigo Park, Whit Lightning, Upper Eastwind, Upper Ultra, West Side Park and Upper Blue Streak.

Liberty Ski Resort has lodging at the slopes in the Liberty Hotel. There are just 41 rooms but additional lodging is close by. Overnight camping is allowed at Liberty if you have a camper or an RV.
Liberty allows snowboards on all the slopes and they also have three terrain parks and a halfpipe. Beginners can learn the skills they need at West Side where they can master levels one and two. They will learn on low elevation tabletops and short distance rails. Level two takes on more advanced rails and boxes and medium range platforms. Vertigo and Adventure Alley are the more advanced parks ready to challenge and entertain even the best boarders.

Some of the amenities found at Liberty are the snow sports schools, the children's learning center, the Play Care for kids ages 6 months to 10 years, 15 lanes of snow tubing, McKee's Tavern, three terrain parks covering 10 acres of snow and a full service sports shop. The rental shop rents Rossignol, Dynastar, Salomon, K2 and Elan skis and Burton, Morrow and Ride snowboards.
Because of the resorts close proximity to the cities it's a popular place for families to come for a day of fun in the snow. This makes the snow tubing at Boulder Ridge a popular destination. The main tubing lanes are for anyone over 5 years old. The little ones have their own special place at the Pebble Ridge Kiddie Tubing. Next time you are planning a birthday party consider a tubing party at Liberty. You get two hours of tubing and one hour in the party room for pizza.
